the major benefits of a non-contended service are time & speed. at popular usage times, customers using standard internet service providers will find the speed of their connection drops as the number of users per 100 increases from 1 to 20 - 30. this increases the contention on the network (which is like the congestion on a motorway which causes traffic to travel slowly) so the service slows down.

all sparkdial customers access the service using an 0845 number. the cost of the calls are charged at local rate, which means customers will pay the same as with other isp's. You can even add your sparkdial 0845 number to your "friends & family" list to access at discounted rates.
