windows 2000 setup

the following instructions describe how to creating a new dialup connection to sparkdial.

1) to begin, click the windows start menu, select 'settings', select dial-up networking'.

2) double click the 'make new connection' icon.

3) a dialogue box will open which will welcome you to the network connection wizard, click 'next'.

4) select the 'dial-up to the internet' option and click 'Next'.

5) select 'i want to set up my internet connection manually' (3rd option), and click 'next'.

6) select 'i connect through a phone line and a modem' and click 'next'.

7) type in 08451207958 into the 'telephone number' box (leave area code blank). make sure that the 'use area code and dialing rules box' is unchecked and click 'next'.

8) type in your 'username' (i.e. johnsmith) and your 'password' (i.e. verify) and click 'next'. if you have forgotten your username and/or password, please refer to your sparkdial welcome e-mail, or alternatively contact support @ sparkdial.co.uk

9) type a name for your new connection, such as sparkdial and click 'next'.

the following instructions explain how to setup an e-mail account using microsoft outlook express.

10) select 'yes' to 'do you want to setup an Internet mail account now?' and click 'next'.

11) select 'create a new internet mail account' and click 'next'.

12) type in your name in the 'display name' box and click 'next'.

13) type in your e-mail address (i.e. johnsmith@sparkdial.co.uk) in the 'e-mail address' box and click 'next'. if you have forgotten your e-mail address, please refer to your sparkdial welcome e-mail, or alternatively contact support @ sparkdial.co.uk

14) select 'pop3' as the incoming mail server type in the drop down menu.

15) type 'mail.sparkdial.co.uk' as the incoming mail server address, and click 'next'.

16) type 'mail.sparkdial.co.uk' as the outgoing mail server address, and click 'next'.

17) type in your 'username' (i.e. johnsmith) and your 'password' (i.e. verify), and select the 'remember password' box, and click 'next'. if you have forgotten your username and/or password, please refer to your sparkdial welcome e-mail, or alternatively contact support @ sparkdial.co.uk

18) uncheck the 'connect to the internet' box and click 'finish'.

to use your new sparkdial internet connection, click the windows start menu, select settings, select network and dial-up connections and double click the sparkdial icon.
